Let’s start by defining spiritual healer. Does this mean you’ll be putting your hands on someone? Not necessarily. I began as a Clairvoyant and as my abilities grew I moved into medium-ship, healing and eventually channeling. All of which are considered spiritual healing if done with a few key ingredients.  Let’s explore the ingredients……

Personal Healing & Growth

Let me be clear; there is a process and a development that must occur for you to be able to truly hold space for another person and guide them through a life crisis and complete healing. More and more there are trainings for these things but some of them fall short on one of the most important parts of the process.  YOUR OWN HEALING COMES FIRST.

I have trained thousands of people in the psychic arts, healing, mediumship and channeling. Everyone is down for the “how” of doing this with another person, but very few understand the complexity of doing this without personal healing.

I was very grateful to have had teachers myself that focused on this aspect of deep personal healing. Diving into the depths of our souls to discover the different parts of our “selves” that need healing is essential to becoming a more balanced person and eventually a healer if that is your path.

It is not an easy process, but very necessary. You will notice a difference between practitioners that do, or do not do this. They’re own limitations will show up in their work and they won’t be able to help a person past a certain point.

How does one go about this healing?

My favorite Chinese proverb is: “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.”  This is so true. Finding a teacher or teachings that can guide you through your healing is essential.

I originally sought out a healer because my awakening was intense and creating an imbalance in my entire life. I went straight for the healing because I HAD to. This is sometimes where someone begins. I was having visions, seeing spirits and channeling in my sleep after years of being shut down to my gifts. They were very raw and untamed. I was a disaster.

Initially it felt as if it was happening without me.  It is not enough to just be psychic, or to feel you want to do this with other people. Their lives and sometimes sanity are on the line.

Then there are others that have spiritual experiences that are less intense and more of a nudge to explore greater spiritual depth. Everyone comes from a different background and their spiritual awakening varies just as greatly.   My own intense awakening is what led me to want to work with other healers. They do not always recognize themselves initially. It is a great pleasure to mentor a healer.

Every teacher has their own way of teaching and guiding their students into the depths of their “healer’s healing.” It is not simple and very personal so you have to feel comfortable and resonate with the teacher or teachings you choose.

Now, if you have been working on your path for a while but have not yet come up on the deep healing part it’s okay. I initially did readings without this and “thought” I had done my work. I hadn’t, and when I finally knew what deep work was, I was floored at how much it helped me become a much deeper person, clairvoyant and healer.

I found myself in readings not knowing how to help them further. It’s what finally birthed my vocal channeling. That would not have been possible without a proper spiritual foundation.

Warning: Your ego will want to tell you that you don’t need this and taking the class to learn “how to” ____ is enough. It’s not.

Not if your goal is to truly help people heal deeply and profoundly.

1. Your Ego

You must learn about what the ego is, how yours personally functions with you so that you can overcome its limitations. Otherwise, you may think you are getting higher guidance when in fact your ego is “playing higher self.” This happens to EVERYONE and it is a matter of educating yourself and then eventually recognizing when your ego is at play or higher guidance is in fact happening.

2.  Higher Self

Spiritual Development is creating a relationship to your higher self so that you can co-create your ultimate purpose and live spiritually whether you are paid for it or not. The higher self is the voice you hear in your head when you know your day is going to take a detour or subtle guidance to turn right instead of left comes right in the knick of time.

Your higher self is responsible for accurate visions and guidance. Although we all have moments of this, learning how to tune into it at will and to not ignore it takes some practice.

 3.  Inner Child Work

This is another foundational piece to your healing. Everyone has been a child and no one is immune to inner child healing no matter how great you thought your child hood was. The child is responsible for a lot of your creative process. Working with them frees you to be more creative. It also helps you understand that every adult has an inner child that will eventually come up for healing.

 4.  Shadow Work

Without shadow work we are left with a delusional reality. You must integrate the darker parts of yourself to have wholeness and grounding. Otherwise delusions of grandeur, delusions of being less than or your child/adolescent will be running amuck. It is not something your natural psychic ability will ever figure out for you. A proper teacher has been through this themselves and can help you activate it and get through it.

 5. Why is natural ability not enough?

Just like ballet, acting, painting or anything else, we must create the right circumstances for. As in any of these things, everyone can take the class, but certain people will show a talent more than others. Talent does not outweigh the work and development needed to push past a novice that is just naturally intuitive. Think of it as going to a university for a degree. The degree you receive with a well equipped teacher is priceless.

6. Do I need a certification?

There are certifications, but no real degree in this. I abandoned my certification because I realized that the piece of paper is meaningless. It is the education and healing you are after. That needs to mean more to you than a piece of paper.

I’m not poo-pooing anyone that does this, just understand that the certificate is not what makes you a spiritual healer. The education, work you put into it and relationship to your higher self because of it is what makes you a spiritual healer. Ultimately, spirit decides if this is our purpose.

 7. Can anyone become a Spiritual Healer?

Everyone can benefit from the education and can take the class but the point is to find your own purpose in it. For some, it will be to use it in their own lives and for others a career is the purpose. There are many practitioners that have another career and do this on the side to assure they are doing it for the right reasons. You will get insight on this while you are going through your healing.  For me, it became a full time career but took about 4 years of doing it after my regular job daily to build up to that.

 8. There will be surprises

I always knew that I was psychic and that I would need to do something with that. There was a lot that I didn’t know and only came because of my development. Your higher self will not reveal everything. The biggest surprise to me was that my purpose was Vocal Trance Channeling. Even though it happened to me during my awakening, it did not occur to me that it was anything other than an imbalance I was experiencing. Moving into my purpose has taken 16 years and is still not complete.

9. You are never done!

This is my last piece of advice. Once you become a healer, you will always be healing and growing. It doesn’t stop or end because you reached some kind of goal. I am much more adept at facing the challenges that occur in my life because I continue to do my work regularly. It is part of my daily life and this is really the last step of becoming a spiritual healer.

Do you walk in it everyday? I don’t mean with clients, with yourself. I quite enjoy this now and cannot imagine living any other way. I even do Raina’s workshops and meditations after I have channeled them. This is the best gift of them all.
